About the Show
Sunday 14th August – Make it a date!
The 2011 programme is now available for download from here.
Featuring two world class demonstrations reflecting Medieval times..
- The Knights of the Damned Joust Team (the world class, local, stunt show stars with numerous TV and Film credits to their name) make a welcome return visit – with two new acts to headline our Main Ring. And just nearby -
- A replica “Bloomery” (run in “Time Team style” by the world champions in this dark art – thanks to Shropshire Council) will see an iron furnace within the Showground, hoping to produce metal, like that used for knights’ swords.
..Chorley Show is on track to be a really enjoyable day out for all the family.
The Show is organised entirely by local volunteers, to all of whom ‘many, many thanks’ and we will be fundraising for our Village Hall and other, local good causes.
Alongside the freshly-baked selections from the new wood-fired Pizza oven, traditional favourites – like the Beer Tent (locally sourced from Hobsons, and Robinsons, of course), the Heath Farm Meats on the BBQ, and the mouthwatering home baking from the Refreshment Marquee – will give everyone a real flavour of ‘the tastes of Cleobury Country’.
The Chorley Show Market showcases local traders, with what promises to be a wide range of goods and services – offering visitors some quality ‘retail therapy’!
Then, building on our past successes, we’ve also got it together with local helpers and providers of ‘have-a-go-for yourself’ activities this year: so come along and try your hand at – woodcarving (with Shropshire Wood Carvers); and – archery (bows and arrows from Cleobury Country Archers); and – throwing a pot (with Clay Centre Pottery); and -scoring at the penalty shoot-out; and – bouncing
inflatables; and – traditional craft activities, tombola, and coconut shy (available for sponsorship!); and, to round off the day, classic ‘childrens sports day’ games.
The ‘Family Fun Dog Show’, the local WI-supported ‘Craft, Gardening & Cookery Show’, and popular local band “Whalebone”, all make a welcome return to ensure the Show really does have something for everyone! Add in more local music from Jake Flowers; blacksmithing demonstrations; the owl display; the amazing performers from the “Flying Butresses” making a Chorley debut with their ‘creatures, characters and creations’; and The Woodland Trust, and donkeys from the Rescue Centre, it really will be an action-packed day.
For the less energetic, the History & Heritage area will feature displays of historic photographs and artefacts, alongside an update from The Four Parishes Heritage Group. Shropshire’s travelling Museum on the Move from Ludlow will also be on site with a stunning new, interactive display for all ages – “Our Changing World”: featuring ‘The dinosaur, the dodo and the doormouse’.
Talking of our changing world, Chorley Show is striving to be ‘carbon neutral’ again this year (we think we were probably the first such event ever held in Shropshire) – so we will, with your help, again be recycling almost all the ‘rubbish’ generated. Come along to the Show to learn more about this and other initiatives.

Hi Chorley Gang
I hope the weather is great on Sunday, that all the visitors and helpers have a super day and raise lots of money in the true Chorley tradition.
Wish we could be there with you all on the day.
Keep up the good work.
Good luck
