Last Years Show

16th August 2009 – What a Fantastic Day it was!

Featuring a host of new attractions – including Heavy Horse logging demonstrations in the main ring – Chorley Show 2009 was a really enjoyable day out for all the family.

Traditional favourites – like the champion Beer Tent (sponsored by Hobsons of course) the BBQ supplied from Heath Farm Meats and mouth watering home baking from the Refreshment Marquee – were back once again, to give everyone a real ‘taste of Cleobury Country’. Local traders also provided a spot of ‘retail therapy’ in the market area.

The Family Fun Dog Show, the WI-supported Craft, Gardening and Cookery Show, all made a welcome return to ensure the Show really did have something for everyone!

Add in the hands-on Wenlock Pottery demonstrations, the coconut shy and sideshows, the Big Bounce Inflatable (thanks to B B C), the arts and face painting activities, live music from Whalebone (rootsy, folky, funky back by popular demand) and Beck Sian (haunting, magical music with a Celtic thread) and loads more – it really was an action-packed day!

In the Local Interest and Heritage tent, the Four Parishes Heritage Group showed fascinating videos of local archaeology and medieval iron making and the South Wheatland Archive Group displayed old documents and maps, along with a display of heritage photographs which provided an intriguing insight into times past.

Our local Shropshire Donkey Rescue Centre brought some of their rescue animals who enjoyed all the attention (especially the strokes and pats) and the Shropshire Smallholders Group brought along some of their livestock to be admired and answered questions about keeping animals.
